Quick-release couplings are also known as two-part hose connectors made of plastic
Quick-release couplings are a staple in the RCT hose technology and hose connection range. They are also referred to as hose couplings, quick connect fittings, or two-part hose connectors. The individual elements are made from plastics such as POM, PA, PP, PSU, and PVDF. Each quick-release coupling consists of a male half and a female half, which can be equipped with either a free flow or a shut-off valve. Our range also includes quick connect couplings made from brass and other materials.
A quick-release coupling includes a female part (coupling) and a male part (plug), which can have a shut-off valve. A single-sided shut-off quick connect coupling consists of a female part with a shut-off valve and a male part with a free flow. For a double shut-off quick connect coupling, both the female and male parts must have shut-off valves. Quick-release couplings are easy to handle; they can be quickly connected and disconnected. To disconnect, a short press on the locking mechanism with the thumb is sufficient, allowing the plug to be effortlessly removed from the coupling.
Chemical resistance of plastics used in our quick couplings
- POM (Polyoxymethylene/Delrin®): Fittings made of this plastic are resistant when used with lubricants, gasoline, and other aliphatic hydrocarbons, benzene, xylene, and other aromatic hydrocarbons, esters, ketones, alkaline solutions, ammonia, amines, as well as hydrogen peroxide and hot water.
- PA 6 (Polyamide 6): Shows excellent resistance when used with lubricants, gasoline, fats, oils, aliphatic hydrocarbons, cyclic hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, alcohols, ketones, and halogenated solvents. However, the material is only conditionally resistant to weak organic acids and hot water.
- PP (Polypropylene/Hostalen® PP): Offers the greatest resistance to lubricants, gasoline, aliphatic hydrocarbons, alcohols, ketones, organic acids, mineral acids, hydrogen peroxide, alkaline solutions, ammonia, and amines.
- PSU (Polysulfone): Is resistant when used with alkanes, alcohols, fats, oils, and dilute acids; PSU is conditionally resistant to gasoline.
- PVDF (Polyvinylidene fluoride/Solef®/Kynar®): Exhibits the highest resistance to gasoline and other aliphatic hydrocarbons, halogenated solvents, ammonia solutions, and aliphatic amines; it is also suitable for use with aniline, mineral acids, organic acids, hydrogen peroxide, and hot water, and is resistant to UV radiation. Couplings made of PVDF have limited resistance to gasoline, xylene, and other aromatic hydrocarbons, as well as phenols.
