TPE Tubing for the Chemical and Food Industries
As a specialist supplier of laboratory equipment and an expert in fluid technology, Reichelt Chemietechnik (RCT) keeps an extensive range of high-quality soft rubber tubing in stock. This includes TPE tubing, which we hold in stock so that we can offer you the shortest possible delivery times.
General Properties of TPE Tubing
Tubing made from TPE (thermoplastic elastomers) combines very high abrasion and wear resistance with remarkable elasticity. It offers pronounced swelling resistance to aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons as well as to oils. TPE tubing is also produced as food-grade tubing, pharmaceutical and chemical hoses, and it consistently complies with FDA and BfR regulations. They are highly elastic, with a Shore A hardness of 40° combined with notable tensile strength.
Use as Chemical Hoses
TPE chemical hoses is used above all as pressure and vacuum products. It offers outstanding mechanical strength together with very good abrasion resistance and is also kink-resistant. These variants deliver excellent pressure performance, even at elevated temperatures, making it well suited for use as pneumatic and hydraulic lines. Their swelling resistance in oils and in aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons at moderate temperatures is likewise remarkable.
The chemical tubing has a Shore D hardness of 63° to DIN 53505 and is rated for a temperature range from -40 °C to +120 °C, with short-term thermal peaks of up to +160 °C also tolerable.
We offer several variants that differ in their internal diameter: you can choose products with internal diameters of 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 mm, with permissible operating pressures of 8 to 20 bar depending on the tubing dimension. Owing to their small dimensions, these chemical lines are ideally suited as process tubing for laboratory and practical-course applications.
Use as Food-Grade Tubing
TPE tubing intended for food contact complies with FDA and BfR regulations and therefore with the requirements of the European Pharmacopoeia. These food-grade tubing are used in plant engineering, pharmaceutical technology, operational engineering, medical technology and chemical processing. It has a Shore A hardness of 40° to DIN 53505 and can be used across a temperature range from -35 °C to +90 °C. The food-safe variants are amber-coloured, latex-free and resistant to ageing.
RCT manufactures hoses with internal diameters of 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 mm; an elongation at break of 500 % to ISO 815B is a defining feature of this variant.
