Fittings or pipe connectors are produced from plastics such as PP, PVDF, PTFE, and PFA and serve as fittings for rigid hoses.
Fittings/pipe connectors are used for adapting rigid hoses. In the case of connectors for rigid hoses with outer diameters of 4 mm, 6 mm, 8 mm, and 10 mm, they are referred to as hose connectors. For plastic pipe connectors with an outer diameter of 12 mm, 16 mm, 20 mm, and 25 mm, the term pipe connectors apply. RCT continuously stocks numerous plastic pipe connectors in various diameter sizes and a large assortment of fittings, connectors, and adapters.

Chemical resistance of the plastics from which our fittings, adapters, and connectors are made
Our connectors are made from plastics, and the fittings or pipe connectors thus have the following resistances:
- PP Fittings (Polypropylene/Hostalen® PP) are resistant to lubricants, gasoline, aliphatic hydrocarbons, alcohols, ketones, as well as aromatic hydrocarbons, organic acids, mineral acids, hydrogen peroxide, alkali solutions, ammonia, and amines.
- PVDF (Polyvinylidene fluoride, Kynar®, Solef®) is a fluoroplastic that is resistant to gasoline and other aliphatic hydrocarbons, halogenated solvents, ammonia solutions, and aliphatic amines, as well as aniline, mineral acids, organic acids, hydrogen peroxide, and UV radiation.
- PFA (Perfluoroalkoxy/Chemfluor®) belongs to the group of fluoroplastics and is resistant to gasoline and other aliphatic hydrocarbons, benzene, xylene, and other aromatic hydrocarbons, phenols, halogenated solvents, esters, ketones, sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, as well as ammonia solutions and aliphatic amines, pyridine, mineral acids, organic acids, hydrogen peroxide, hot water, and UV radiation.
- PVDF (Polyvinylidene fluoride/Knyar®, Solef®) is a fluoroplastic with resistance to gasoline and other aliphatic hydrocarbons, halogenated solvents, ammonia solutions, and aliphatic amines, as well as aniline, mineral acids, and organic acids, and also hydrogen peroxide and hot water.
- POM (Polyoxymethylene/Delrin®) is resistant to lubricants, gasoline, and other aliphatic hydrocarbons, benzene, xylene, and other aromatic hydrocarbons, esters, ketones, alkali solutions, ammonia, and amines, as well as hydrogen peroxide and hot water, but has limited resistance to phenols, organic acids, and mineral acids.
Connection principle of our PP Fittings:
The connection principle of fittings is based on the fact that the hose/pipe fits snugly against the inside of the connector, and the connection is then sealed with a sealing ring. The sealing of the pipe and fitting itself is achieved with a cutting ring made of PEEK (Polyether ether ketone), often in black, which acts on the hose via a tightened nut.
The slotted cutting ring notches into the hose/pipe as far as the nut is tightened. Always pay attention to the correct thread and the right inch specification of our pipe, hose, and connecting elements.
In summary, coupling, ferrule, and clamp in PP fitting systems form an integral trio that ensures the safe and efficient transfer of media in pipe and hose systems. Couplings connect sections of the system, ferrules provide a connection point for hoses, and clamp connections secure these connections.
Temperature resistance of the plastics:
The following materials are used to manufacture the connectors and fittings:
- PP (Polypropylene/Hostalen® PP): +5 °C to +100 °C
- PVDF (Polyvinylidene fluoride/ Kynar®/Solef®): -30 °C to +150 °C, temporarily up to +160 °C
- PFA (Perfluoroalkoxy/Chemfluor®): -200 °C to +260 °C, temporarily up to +280 °C
- POM (Polyoxymethylene/Delrin®): -50 °C to +100 °C, temporarily up to +140 °C
