Pneumatic Connectors as Hose Connections
As a provider of high-quality hose technology and hose connectors, Reichelt Chemietechnik offers an extensive assortment of pneumatic connectors for working with compressed air in numerous plug-in variations. These are primarily used in chemical engineering for hydraulic and pneumatic applications - such as in mechanical engineering or automotive construction. For example, there are T-connectors, versions with internal or external threads, elbow fittings, variants with push-in fittings, or Y-connectors. We also offer hose adapter couplings. Many of these products are permanently in stock and can be delivered in a short time. The pneumatic connectors are made of either plastic or stainless steel and are suitable for working with compressed air. The plastic connectors are specifically made of the materials PA 6.6 (Polyamide 6.6) and PP (Polypropylene, Hostalen®).
Hose Connection Made Simple
In the industry, pneumatic connectors serve as an important fitting component. Their handling is extremely simple and comfortable. To make the connection (adaptation), the hose to be connected is simply inserted into the adapter through the clamping sleeve until it stops, while the involved sealing ring seals the system. The mechanical hold of the hose is secured by the clamping sleeve and firmly adapted. It is responsible for the absolutely secure adaptation. If you want to remove the tube, this is done by pushing back the clamping sleeve, and the connection is released.
However, note that primarily hard hoses are suitable as hose lines. These include, above all, tube systems made of PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene, THOMAFLON), EVA (Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate Copolymers), PA, or also PUR (Polyurethane).
Properties and Characteristics of Pneumatic Connectors
The maximum operating pressure for pneumatic connectors made of the plastic PA and stainless steel is usually in a pressure range of 18 bar at +20 °C. On the other hand, work can be done in a temperature range from -20 °C to +80 °C. Models made of the material PP, on the other hand, have a maximum operating pressure of 16 bar at +20 °C - for air tubes from 5 to 8 mm. For hoses from 9.5 to 12.7 mm, an operating pressure of 10 bar at +20 °C is possible. The general temperature range here is set from -20 °C to +70 °C. These pressure parameters characterize PP tube fittings as coupling elements with an exceptionally high pressure potential.
Chemical Resistance
of the plastics from which the pneumatic connectors are made:
- PA 6.6 (Polyamide 6.6/Nylon)
PA 6.6 is absolutely resistant to lubricants, oils, gasoline, aliphatic hydrocarbons, alcohols, ketones, cyclic hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, as well as to trichloroethylene and perchloroethylene.
- PP (Polypropylene/Hostalen®)
The chemical resistance of PP is excellent against lubricants, gasoline, aliphatic hydrocarbons, alcohols, ketones, as well as against organic acids and mineral acids, hydrogen peroxide, alkali solutions, ammonia, and amines.
Thermal Resistance/Temperature Resistance/Operating Temperatures
of the plastics from which the pneumatic connectors are made:
- PA 6.6 (Polyamide 6.6)
Temperature range: -40 °C to +95 °C, briefly up to +110 °C.
- PP (Polypropylene)
Temperature range: -5 °C to +90 °C
Product Specification
- PP (Polypropylene/Hostalon® PP)
is characterized by its good temperature properties, its hydrolysis resistance, as well as by its very good dielectric properties; its area of application is fluid technology; here it is used for the production of pump elements, fittings, and valves, as PP is a highly loadable material for sliding elements.
- PA 6.6 (Polyamide 6.6/Nylon)
The material is characterized by the best mechanical strength values; its impact resistance as well as its wear resistance is noteworthy; PA ensures the best sliding friction coefficients with above-average temperature values; the material is UV-resistant and can be described as food-safe (batch-dependent).
