PUR tubing – one hose for many applications
As a supplier of high-quality tube and hose technology, Reichelt Chemietechnik carries an extensive range of soft rubber tubings made of PUR – also referred to as PU (polyurethane, Vulkollan®). These hoses are used across countless industrial and chemical applications and are available in a wide variety of designs for specific requirements. The range includes, for example, insulation tubing, film tubing, pressure tubing, food-grade tubing and many further variants. We keep many of these polyurethane products permanently in stock – in a broad choice of diameters and colours – so that we can deliver quickly and just in time.
PUR Spiral Tubing
A particular highlight of the RCT range is our spiral tubing made of PUR. These hoses come into their own in robotics and automation, where their permanent retraction force helps keep production processes running smoothly. This flexible polyurethane tubing is supplied in blue, yellow and red, and is also available as spark-guard tubing.
Polyurethane Spiral Tubing as Spark-Guard Tubing
Spark-guard tubing is available with or without swivel fittings and is resistant to flying sparks and weld spatter. The versions with swivel fittings come with R 1/4″ and R 3/8″ connection threads. These variants can be ordered with an inner diameter of either 6 mm or 8 mm. Despite a Shore A hardness of 98°, this polyurethane rubber tubing remains remarkably flexible and highly elastic. It can also be used as pressure tubing and is suited to working temperatures between -20 °C and +60 °C. The maximum operating pressure is 10 bar.
Antistatic Tubing
Another specialised design is our antistatic spiral tubing made of PUR. It is electrically dissipative, with a discharge resistance of <10⁶ Ω, and complies with Directive 94/9/EC (ATEX). Its Shore A hardness is 98° in accordance with DIN 53505.
Food-Grade Polyurethane Tubing
The Reichelt Chemietechnik range also includes food-grade tubing with a Shore D hardness of 52°. This polyurethane tubing is exceptionally flexible and complies with FDA and BfR regulations, making it suitable for use in the food industry.
PUR Tubing with Discharge Gun
RCT also supplies PUR tubing in versions fitted with a discharge gun. These hoses are available with outer diameters of 8 mm and 10 mm in various block and working lengths, with a choice of working lengths of 3 m or 6 m.
Chemical and Pressure Tubing
Chemical and pressure hoses made of PUR forms part of our standard range and serves a wide variety of applications. The maximum operating pressure is 10 bar at +20 °C. These hoses have a Shore A hardness of 95° in accordance with DIN 53505 and are available in red, yellow and blue. You can choose between outer diameters of 6, 8, 10 and 12 mm, with a bending radius of between 16 and 36 mm depending on the hose dimension.
These chemical hoses are also available in a calibrated version with an antistatic (electrically dissipative) finish. This special series is reserved in particular for measurement and control technology as well as chemical and process engineering. Notable features include high wear resistance and, above all, excellent elasticity and softness. The surface resistance is <10⁶ Ω and the maximum operating pressure is 10 bar at +20 °C.
Film Tubing
PUR products are also offered as film tubing. Within this specification you can choose between three types of polyurethane hose.
Exceptionally Robust and Resilient
On the one hand, our range includes film tubing in a robust design offering high resistance to ozone and ageing, as well as to mineral oil and UV. These versions are fitted with an integrated, welded-in, corrosion-protected steel wire spiral.
FDA- and BfR-Compliant Polyurethane Tubing
RCT also presents further PUR film tubing in FDA- and BfR-compliant designs that meet the requirements of the European Pharmacopoeia. These hoses therefore qualify as food-grade tubing and can be used across a temperature range of -40 °C to +90 °C. They too are fitted with a corrosion-protected steel wire spiral.
PUR Film Tubing with TPE-U Sheathing
We also supply film tubing with a TPE-U sheath. These are heavy-duty designs with a double-thickness film wall and are used primarily for suction applications – which is why they are also referred to as suction tubing.
Lumen Tubing
Calibrated lumen chemical tubing with two or three lumens is likewise part of the RCT polyurethane tubing range. It is colour-coded, has a Shore A hardness of 98° in accordance with DIN 53505 and offers maximum flexibility and elasticity.
Twin Tubing
High-pressure twin tubing is manufactured from PUR/LDPE (low-density polyethylene). It withstands a burst pressure equal to four times the dynamic operating pressure. The working temperature ranges from -50 °C to +100 °C. The inner core is made of PUR and the outer jacket of LDPE, guaranteeing outstanding wear resistance.
Suction and Pressure Tubing
PUR tubing is also available as suction hoses, which represents something of a speciality. The suction hoses offer a vacuum resistance of 900 mbar at +20 °C and can withstand a maximum operating pressure of 6 bar at +20 °C, with a temperature range of -20 °C to +80 °C. The reinforcement consists of an embedded steel wire spiral. These hoses are used to convey powdered and granular media as well as granulates and are ideally suited to vacuum technology, plant operations, systems engineering and chemical process technology.
It is worth noting that these suction and pressure hoses are also available as food-grade tubing for use in the sugar industry, dairy processing, the soft drinks sector and the beverage industry in general. This PUR tubing is FDA- and BfR-compliant and thus meets the requirements of the European Pharmacopoeia. It can withstand operating pressures of 3.5 to 7 bar at +20 °C depending on the hose dimension.
Compressed Air Tubing
Compressed air tubing is designed as pressure tubing for extreme demands, with a maximum pressure rating of 20 bar at +20 °C (PN 20). The inner core is completely smooth and black, while the outer jacket is coloured blue. This polyurethane tubing guarantees maximum pressure resistance, wear resistance and dimensional stability combined with good flexibility.
Fuel and Lubricant Tubing
Fuel and lubricant tubing represents a special group of hose compounds that are FDA- and BfR-compliant and are used to convey oils, lubricants and liquid fuels such as petrol and diesel. Chemical resistance to bitumen, kerosene, aliphatic hydrocarbons, mineral oils and lubricants is assured. These hoses can be used at working temperatures from -40 °C to +80 °C and have a Shore A hardness of 82°.
