Standard Barbed Connectors in Brass and Steel
Brass and steel hose fittings are supplied as threaded hose couplings for industrial and chemical engineering. The hose spigots are likewise made from brass and steel. Metal hose tails with an inner diameter of 13 mm to 75 mm are also produced from steel (1.0718) and are additionally nickel-plated. These barbed fittings are available with threaded connections from 3/4" to 3" and suit hoses with an inner diameter of 9 mm to 75 mm.
Our barbed hose connectors are supplied as:
- male-threaded version, i.e. as screw-in connectors
- female-threaded version, i.e. as screw-on connectors
Material Properties
Brass
Brass is a copper alloy in which zinc accounts for approximately 50%. It is described by the general formula CuZnx, where x denotes the zinc content. Brass is usually light yellow in colour, which indicates a copper content above 36%. Its corrosion behaviour is significantly influenced by the addition of nickel, which has a beneficial effect on the properties of a metal barbed connector made from this material.
Stainless Steel
As a material for barbed connectors, stainless steel is available in both alloyed and unalloyed form. It is manufactured to DIN EN 10020 and represents a particularly high-grade, pure category of steel, in which the phosphorus and sulphur content is no higher than 0.02%. A high proportion of molybdenum, together with other alloying elements, ensures that the steel is especially corrosion-resistant.
Chemical Resistance
Brass
Brass is resistant to acetone, alcohol, benzene, diesel oil, Frigen, vegetable oils, propane gas, rapeseed oil, brines and salt solutions, sulphur dioxide, hydrogen sulphide and heat transfer oils.
Stainless Steel 1.4571
Stainless steel 1.4571 is resistant to petrol, diesel oil, natural gas, acetic acid, formalin, Frigen, hot air up to +200 °C, heating oil up to +180 °C, hexane, hydraulic fluids, mineral-oil-based hydraulic oils, oleic acids, petroleum ether, kerosene, rapeseed oil, nitric acid up to 33%, carbon disulphide and dry hydrogen sulphide, as well as turbine oils and heat exchanger oils up to +250 °C.

This includes micro adapters and micro reducing connectors as well as micro T-connectors and micro cross connectors for soft, flexible hoses of differing diameters.
