Plugs for Chemical Engineering
As a specialized company for closure elements, Reichelt Chemietechnik presents a wide range of different plugs made of elastomers and plastics on this page. This includes rubber and protective plugs, cover and laboratory caps, safety, hollow, and threaded plugs, conical plastic plugs, and many other products.
High-Performance and High-Temperature Plugs
Cover plugs made of PVC-P (soft PVC) are also known as high-temperature resistant threaded plugs (up to +230°C). PVC-P high-temperature seals are considered high-performance plugs. Hollow and conical silicone plugs (THOMASIL) are even heat-resistant up to +300°C. Moreover, they are highly elastic and tear-resistant.
EPDM cone plugs are chemical-resistant. The silicone cone variants (THOMASIL) are high-temperature products equipped with an M-thread. These cone variants are also offered as safety or threaded plugs. Masking, cover, or rubber plugs are high-temperature caps up to +180°C made from TPG (Thermoplastic Rubber). They are considered protective plugs for manufacturing processes in mechanical engineering and chemical engineering. TPG safety plugs are made with tabs and are used in manufacturing processes. They are tear-resistant and heat-resistant up to +150°C.
Laboratory plugs made from FPM/FKM (Viton®/THOMAFLUOR) are high-temperature products capable of withstanding up to +215°C and are also referred to as FPM rubber seals.
More Varieties
However, Reichelt Chemietechnik's assortment of rubber caps is even larger. NBR (Perbunan/Nitrile) products are resistant to mineral oil and fuel. NR (natural rubber) variants are presented with or without holes and are made of soft rubber with a Shore hardness of A 40° according to DIN 53505. Masking plugs as PVC-P (soft PVC) rubber products are manufactured in oil-resistant or lubricant-resistant versions and are available to the automotive and mechanical engineering industries, as well as other application areas for various users.
Silicone Plugs
Silicone laboratory plugs, as conical variants, are also high-temperature products for temperatures up to +260°C. Furthermore, Reichelt Chemietechnik presents silicone caps as threaded plugs in solid rubber design or with a hollow bore of your choice. Conical rubber products made of silicone are suitable for high temperatures up to +300°C.
Silicone seals - platinum-cured - for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical technology are also high-temperature covers and are also FDA and BfR-compliant. For food technology and pharmaceutical technology, silicone plugs are known as conical rubber plugs, which are FDA and BfR-compliant and are also suitable for high temperatures (+230°C). Silicone/THOMASIL pull plugs are also masking plugs for through-holes. They are high-temperature plugs and can withstand temperatures up to +300°C.
Plastic Plugs
The group of closure elements also includes models made of plastic, such as threaded products made of LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene, i.e., polymers of low density) with long G-threads or short M-threads. Threaded plugs are also considered protective or sealing covers.
LDPE cone plugs are resistant to weak acids and alkalis, as well as organic acids. Cone plugs are also defined as closure elements and are used in various positions in chemical engineering and process technology.
LDPE lamella plugs - square or rectangular - are considered closure elements, threaded, and safety seals. They are used in the manufacturing industry. LDPE safety plugs are presented with a domed head, retaining knobs, and a flat head. They are used as sealing to protect pipes.
