Latex hoses and natural rubber hoses for chemical and laboratory technology
Latex hoses and natural rubber hoses are manufactured, as the name suggests, from natural rubber. The basis for this, as it was decades ago, is the milky sap of the rubber tree. Demand is high: worldwide, around 10 million tonnes of rubber products based on natural raw rubber are produced each year. A large proportion of the natural rubber produced today – often abbreviated as “NR” for natural rubber – is used in the automotive industry. However, rubber hoses, seals and laboratory stoppers are also manufactured from natural rubber.
As a specialist in hose systems and fluid technology, Reichelt Chemietechnik naturally also offers natural rubber hoses and latex hoses. These natural products are characterized by very high abrasion resistance, tensile strength and an above-average level of elasticity and flexibility, which is also reflected in their Shore hardness. There are many application areas for chemical hoses made of NR: for example, they are used in laboratory technology, biotechnology, chemical engineering and analytical technology, but are also suitable for many other applications. Latex hose systems and natural tubing made from natural rubber are considered flexible, rubber-elastic all-rounders that are widely used in laboratories.
Natural rubber hose designs
As a specialist in hose technology, RCT presents a comprehensive range of different hose designs made of natural rubber. The latex hoses and natural rubber hoses that can be ordered via the online shop are explained in more detail below.
Latex hoses
The amber-coloured laboratory and analytical hoses made of latex are used in chemical engineering, plant engineering and laboratory applications. The latex hoses and natural rubber hoses are manufactured from the rubber-elastic material natural rubber and offer excellent abrasion resistance combined with high flexibility. The Shore hardness A is 40° in accordance with DIN 53505, and the operating temperature range for these latex hoses is from -30 °C to +70 °C; however, they can also be sterilized with steam at +136 °C. The rubber hoses, available in nominal diameters from 2 mm to 12 mm, also exhibit high tensile strength and resistance to ageing.
NR chemical hoses – Shore hardness A 37°
Chemical hoses made of natural rubber with a Shore hardness A of 37° in accordance with DIN 53505 are particularly rubber-elastic, flexible and soft. They are used as latex laboratory hoses and conveying hoses and are characterized by a smooth inner surface and good abrasion resistance. In addition, these natural rubber hoses, like the latex version, are resistant to ageing and tensile loads, but can only be subjected to thermal loads in the range from -30 °C to +60 °C.
Natural rubber hoses – Shore hardness A 55°
Natural rubber hoses are also manufactured with a Shore hardness A of 55°. Despite the slightly higher hardness, these dark red natural hoses remain flexible and elastic, offering very good values in terms of tear resistance, impact elasticity, static friction and abrasion resistance. Resistance to ageing is also ensured. The rubber hoses, produced in nominal diameters from 2 mm to 25 mm, can be used within a temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C.
Super-thin-walled natural rubber hoses
NR chemical hoses – super-thin-walled – are considered latex hoses or natural rubber hoses with a very small wall thickness across the entire nominal diameter range from 10 to 260 mm. For the largest dimension (inner diameter: 260 mm), the wall thickness is just 2 mm. Despite the thin wall, they are tear-resistant, impact-elastic, abrasion-resistant and resistant to ageing; their elastic behaviour with a Shore hardness A of 42° is also very good. The permissible operating temperature range is from -40 °C to +80 °C.
NR vacuum hoses
Vacuum hoses made of natural rubber are considered negative-pressure hoses for the highest vacuum requirements, for example for laboratory vacuum pumps. The vacuum resistance of the natural rubber hoses and latex hoses with nominal diameters from 3 mm to 15 mm is ensured by a particularly high wall thickness as well as a somewhat harder rubber compound (Shore hardness A: 50°). They can be used within a temperature range of -30 °C to +80 °C.
