Conveying Hoses Made of PUR, PVC and EPDM for Diverse Applications
Conveying hoses serve diverse applications across multiple industries — from process engineering, where they function as transfer and extraction lines, to the beverage industry as drink and food-grade options. They also find use in vacuum technology and powder handling systems.
Reichelt Chemietechnik manufactures high-quality flexible tubing in numerous variants, offering a range made from PVC (polyvinyl chloride, THOMAVINYL) and PUR (polyurethane, Vulkollan®). These plastic tubes are remarkably versatile and particularly popular as beverage hoses and food hoses. Additional uses include ventilation, film, spiral and corrugated variants, as well as for pressure, suction and delivery tasks.
Areas of Application
Depending on the task and technical requirements, exhaust and ventilation tubes are ideal for transporting hot air, smoke, chemical vapours and gases. They are also used for ventilating engines and machinery, and for air supply and extraction in laboratories and test facilities.
In the food and beverage industry and process engineering, conveying tubes are used for transporting food products, granules, sugar, milk powder, and other liquids or granular materials. Corrugated and spiral plastic tubes are excellent choices for milk transport.
PVC Hoses – Overview
Reichelt Chemietechnik’s range of PVC conveying hoses includes:
- NBR/PVC universal suction and pressure hose
- PVC spiral industrial suction and pressure hose – dark green
- PVC spiral industrial suction and pressure hose – light green
- PVC spiral hose – lightweight
- PVC spiral hose – heavy-duty
- PVC corrugated hose for milk and food
- PVC corrugated hose for wine and food
Corrugated Hoses
Corrugated tubes belong to the food-grade hose segment, specially designed for conveying wine, beer, soft drinks and other beverages or liquid foods. PVC versions are specifically suited for transporting non-fatty foodstuffs.
PVC corrugated tubes are available for conveying non-fatty liquids and wine. Their working temperature range is –10 °C to +60 °C, with maximum operating pressure between 6 and 8 bar at +20 °C. They maintain vacuum resistance up to 98% at +20 °C.
Corrugated tubes for milk and food are typically used as suction and pressure tubes, suitable for fatty foodstuffs. They work reliably from –10 °C to +60 °C, withstand up to 5 bar at +20 °C (across all tube dimensions) and maintain vacuum resistance up to 70% at +20 °C.
Spiral Hoses
Heavy-duty spiral hoses offer excellent mechanical strength. They are flame-retardant, weather- and ageing-resistant, with a working temperature range from –10 °C to +70 °C and are designed for vacuum applications between 200 mbar and 900 mbar. Made from PVC, they come in lightweight and heavy-duty versions, with maximum pressure up to 7 bar, depending on the type. They are mainly used in the food industry for conveying non-fatty liquids like wine, beer and water. Versions for fatty foods such as yoghurt and milk are also available.
Light green spiral industrial suction and pressure hoses stand out for their robust design and can handle pressures from 4 to 7 bar at +20 °C, depending on the hose size. A built-in PVC-U spiral provides the required strength. Vacuum resistance is approx. 60% for PVC tubing with an I.D. of 25 to 100 mm; hoses with an I.D. of 110 mm can handle up to 50%.
Delivery Hoses
PVC suction and pressure food hoses are food-safe, BfR-compliant and meet EU Regulation EU 10/2011. They offer a working pressure of 7 to 8 bar at +20 °C and maintain vacuum resistance at 0.9 bar at +20 °C. The temperature range is –15 °C to +60 °C. These hoses are ideal for transporting food and liquid goods while maintaining the highest hygiene standards.
PUR Hoses – Overview
Our polyurethane conveying hoses include:
• PUR film hose – FDA-compliant
• PUR film hose – TPE-U coated
• PUR suction and pressure hose – FDA-compliant
• PUR suction and pressure hose for foodstuffs
Suction and Pressure Hoses
These conveying lines are designed for powdery, granular and bulk media, including granulates in production processes, particularly in plant engineering and facility maintenance. They are also used as vacuum lines with vacuum resistance up to 99.9% at +20 °C, depending on type and dimension, and find application in refinery operations and mineral oil processing.
PUR suction and pressure lines are excellent for transporting powdery or granular materials and are commonly used in vacuum and chemical applications due to their exceptional abrasion and kink resistance. These PUR tubes are weather-, ageing- and ozone-resistant and work reliably between –20 °C and +80 °C, with a maximum operating pressure of 6 bar at +20 °C.
FDA-compliant PUR variants are suitable for foodstuffs such as milk and yoghurt — making them ideal for use in the dairy and beverage industries. They can handle liquids as well as powders and granules, including sugar and milk powder. The working temperature range is –15 °C to +60 °C, with an operating pressure of 3.5 to 7 bar at +20 °C and vacuum resistance up to 0.7 bar at +20 °C. They are BfR- and FDA-compliant and meet the requirements of the European Pharmacopoeia.
Foil Hoses
Foil hoses serve as food-grade hoses with FDA and BfR certification, ideal for food production applications. They can be used for vacuum applications up to 345 mbar as well as for pressure operations. Available in lightweight or heavy-duty versions — for example, with TPE coating — they’re particularly robust for special suction applications where high abrasion resistance is needed.
PUR foil hoses with TPE-U coating have a double film wall, making them suitable as suction hoses. These plastic hoses offer outstanding abrasion and wear resistance, are hydrolysis- and microbe-resistant, and operate reliably between –40 °C and +100 °C. The interior is smooth, while the exterior is corrugated.
FDA-compliant PUR film hoses feature an integrated steel wire spiral, ensuring exceptional durability. They’re weather-, ageing-, hydrolysis- and microbe-resistant. The transparent hose material can handle temperatures from –40 °C to +90 °C. A corrosion-resistant steel wire spiral serves as the reinforcement, maintaining vacuum resistance between 20 mbar and 345 mbar at +20 °C.
NBR/PVC Hoses
Suction and pressure hoses made from an NBR (acrylonitrile butadiene rubber, Perbunan®) and PVC blend are widely used in industrial and chemical applications. They work especially well as pump hoses, mineral oil hoses and chemical hoses. These hoses are rigid, robust and impact-resistant. Designed for temperatures from –15 °C to +65 °C and maximum pressures from 5 to 8 bar, they include an embedded steel wire spiral that provides vacuum resistance up to 0.8 bar at +20 °C.
EPDM/PP Ventilation Hoses
Ventilation hoses made from EPDM (ethylene propylene diene rubber, THOMAPREN) and PP (polypropylene, Hostalen®PP) are designed for conveying hot air, flue gases and chemical vapours. A built-in steel wire spiral serves as the reinforcement. The working temperature range is –40 °C to +120 °C; in extreme cases, short-term exposure up to +150 °C is possible.
