- TYGON®
The choice of material for your diesel tubing depends, of course, on the operating conditions. Parameters such as temperature and pressure load, internal and external diameter, and required flexibility should therefore be clarified before selection.
Various diesel applications:
In our range, you will find not only different materials but also many dispensing solutions. To facilitate your selection, the properties and benefits of the offered designs will be explained below.
TYGON®
TYGON® fuel and lubricant lines are specialty products for conveying fuels and lubricants, such as gasoline (leaded and unleaded) and diesel. Furthermore, kerosene, heating oil, and various lubricating fluids can be transported with this mineral oil conduit, and that in a temperature range from -10 °C to +74 °C. The Shore A hardness is 57° according to DIN 53505.
PUR
PUR fuel and lubricant tubing also serves as diesel dispensing solutions and can be used to convey (mineral) oils, liquid fuels, and other fuels. They are thin-walled, flexible, and extremely elastic, with a Shore A hardness of 82° according to DIN 53505. The permissible operating temperature range is -40 °C to +79 °C, with brief exposures up to +93 °C also possible.
PTFE
PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) is a hard, thermoplastic fluoropolymer that is almost universally chemical-resistant and can be used unrestrictedly in the extremely wide temperature range of -200 °C to +260 °C. Therefore, it is obvious that the plastic is also used for diesel-resistant applications, which are used, for example, in petrochemicals, the petroleum industry, and chemical engineering. Additional noteworthy advantages include its high abrasion resistance and mechanical stability.
PTFE tubing is available in numerous designs, including non-reinforced solid material, as high-pressure variants, corrugated tubes, convoluted lines, and as suction and pressure conduits, so that a suitable solution can be provided for almost any application. Even antistatic hoses, i.e., electrically conductive types for explosion-protected areas ("Ex protection") with a discharge resistance <106 Ohm, are available.
PP
PP chemical tubing – Standard – is diesel-resistant and thus also counts as fuel conduit. Furthermore, their chemical resistance to oils, gasoline, acids, alkalis, and many solvents is given. They are characterized by extremely good mechanical strength, their impact and notch impact toughness are excellent. The Shore D hardness is 80° according to DIN 53505 with a temperature resistance from -40 °C to +120 °C (briefly +145 °C) and a pressure load capacity of up to 23 bar*. The dimensionally stable plastic components comply with the flame class UL 94 HB and are also FDA-compliant (FDA 21 CFR §177.1520), so they can also be used as food hoses.
FKM
The fluorocarbon rubber FKM (formerly FPM) is soft, elastic, and extremely flexible. It can generally be used in the temperature range from -20 °C to +200 °C, temporarily even up to a maximum of +250 °C. For an elastomer, the chemical resistance is outstanding: Aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, diesel and other fuels, as well as mineral and vegetable oils, do not attack the plastic. It is therefore obvious that a wide range of different FKM diesel designs is available.
FPM Chemical Lines: Flexible, rubbery diesel hoses
The chemical products in the standard version belong to the group of fuel transport solutions that present excellent resistance to hydrocarbons, mineral, vegetable, and animal oils as well as aromatic and chlorinated solvents. They are available in various Shore hardnesses, from A 60° to A 75°, and are thus particularly elastic, stretchable, and flexible. The operating temperature allowed is -20 °C to +200 °C, with temperature peaks up to +250 °C possible.
Double-jacket design for high pressures
FPM hoses in the double-jacket design are also defined as hoses for diesel fuel. They are used in the petroleum industry, in process technology, in petrochemicals, and in chemical engineering. Their chemical resistance to fuels such as diesel fuels and heating oils is excellent. Moreover, they are aging-resistant, weather-resistant, and ozone-resistant and can be stressed in the range of -20 °C to +120 °C. Thanks to the additional outer jacket, a high pressure load capacity of up to 10 bar* is also ensured.
Glass fabric braided for the highest demands
The specialty hose – equipped with glass fabric braid – is designed for exceptionally high operating pressures (10 bar*) and temperatures (-20 °C to +200 °C, temporarily even +300 °C). It is used as a diesel fuel hose and hydraulic hose in chemical process engineering, the petroleum industry, hydraulics, and mechanical engineering. Its chemical resistance to aliphatic, aromatic, and halogen-substituted hydrocarbons and various fuels is excellent. Even against (diluted) acids, oxidizing agents, and alcohols, the hose is resistant.
HDPE
Diesel hoses made of polyethylene (HDPE) are chemically well resistant – not only to fuels and other petroleum products – and are used in gas technology, process engineering, and chemical engineering. Their mechanical strength and stability are very large; furthermore, they are characterized by a low gas and water vapor permeability (gas permeability). The dimensionally stable polyolefin hoses (Shore hardness D 66°, DIN 53505) can be loaded up to 16 bar* and subjected to temperatures from -50 °C to +100 °C.
NBR
When it comes to conveying gasoline, diesel, and other petroleum products, nitrile rubber is often the material of choice. Diesel hoses made of this elastomer are cost-effective, elastic, and chemically absolutely resistant. The hose designs available on the market from NBR are diverse, so that a suitable solution is available for almost every application.
Antistatic tank truck hoses
The NBR tank truck lines, also known as service station equipment, are predestined for chemical engineering, the petroleum industry, and service station technology. They are not only suitable for pressure applications up to 10 bar*, but also for vacuum use, serving as suction or vacuum hoses. These diesel fuel transport solutions, which are often used on tank trucks, filling stations, and service stations, are extremely abrasion-resistant, aging-resistant, weather-resistant, and resistant to mineral oils and fuels (diesel, gasoline). In addition to the temperature range from -50 °C to +70 °C, the specific resistance of the antistatic hoses is also noteworthy: The antistatic outer jacket is electrically conductive with a discharge resistance of <106 Ohm. Thus, this double-jacket product can also be used in explosion-protected areas ("Ex protection"), for example at service stations.
Fuel hoses according to DIN 73379, Type B
The fuel-resistant diesel hoses according to DIN 73379 are used in engine construction, automotive technology, plant construction, and process technology. The abrasion resistance and aging resistance are exceptionally good. The general temperature resistance is from -40 °C to +90 °C (temperature peaks up to +120 °C possible), but the following restrictions apply to various media:
- Diesel fuels: +80 °C
- Super fuels: +40 °C
- Fuels with a maximum of 50% benzene content (aromatic content): +40 °C
- Coolants (e.g., glycols): +90 °C
- Water: +90 °C
- Aqueous solutions (without oxidizing substances): +80 °C
- (Hot) Air: +80 °C
The chemical resistance is – in addition to the already mentioned media – also against lubricants, mineral and silicone oils, animal oils, and other coolants and cooling waters. The operating pressure is 15 bar* for the entire nominal width range from 3.2 mm to 11.5 mm.
Elastic diesel hoses made of nitrile rubber
NBR tubing, also known as nitrile hoses and Perbunan hoses, are offered, among other things, without additional fabric reinforcement or an additional outer jacket. The diesel hoses made of solid rubber are extremely flexible and rubbery, yet still have very good mechanical properties. They are oil-resistant, fuel- and diesel-resistant, and resistant to vegetable and animal oils as well as diluted acids and bases. The Shore A hardness is 70° according to DIN 53505 with an operating temperature of -20 °C to +100 °C. The tubing made of elastomers is the ideal solution when diesel fuels are conveyed in non-pressurized systems and elastic hose lines with the smallest bending radii are required.
Double-jacket hot goods hoses
The double-jacket hot goods hoses occupy a special position. The abrasion resistance and resistance to mineral oils of the rubber hoses are excellent. However, particularly noteworthy is the wide temperature range in which the hoses can be used: -20 °C to +180 °C, temporarily even up to +220 °C. Thus, not only petroleum products can be transported, but also hot goods and hot water. The pressure resistance of 8 bar* is ensured by the integrated synthetic fabric insert and the outer jacket made of CR (chloroprene rubber).
Diesel hoses with outer jacket, fabric, and steel wire spiral
NBR double-jacket industrial hoses (metric and inch) are oil-resistant, diesel-resistant, and gasoline-resistant and are considered diesel fuel hoses of the best quality for high demands. The elastic behavior is exceptionally good despite the additional CR outer jacket and the integrated fabric insert. The multi-layer hose construction enables maximum operating pressures of up to 60 bar, depending on the hose dimension. The temperature range of this hose type is -25 °C to +100 °C, with temperature peaks up to +120 °C permissible.
Another diesel-suitable version is the double-jacket suction and pressure hose. The outer jacket is also made of chloroprene rubber, but two integrated rayon cord fabrics and a steel wire spiral serve as pressure carriers. The result is an extremely robust, mineral oil-resistant, abrasion-resistant, and also aging-, ozone-, and weather-resistant fuel hose, which, despite the complex hose construction, offers sufficient flexibility and elasticity. The hose, marked with a yellow longitudinal stripe, is designed for operating pressures up to 18 bar (+20 °C) and can be used in the operating temperature range from -20 °C to +80 °C (temporarily +100 °C).
The blue-marked industrial suction and pressure hose ("Blue Ring") was designed for particularly demanding operating conditions. It is used in the basic materials industry, petrochemicals, and chemical process engineering and is resistant to most solvents, fuels, and petroleum products, alcohols, aldehydes, esters, ketones, and paints. Temporarily, it can even be used to convey aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons. Its abrasion resistance, aging resistance, and weather resistance are very good. The complex hose construction with an inner core made of nitrile rubber, an outer jacket made of NBR/PVC, and an additional steel wire spiral not only ensures that the hose can withstand pressures up to 16 bar, but also ensures operation in a vacuum up to a negative pressure of 900 mbar. The operating temperature range is -20 °C to +80 °C (peaks up to +100 °C), with open venting possible at a maximum of +130 °C over a period of up to 30 minutes.
High pressure hoses
For extremely high operating pressures, so-called double-jacket high-pressure hoses, optionally with textile braid or steel wire braid, are offered. The high-performance hoses are used not only as fuel and fuel hoses but also as hydraulic hoses for hydraulic oils and other mineral oils. The resistance to coolants, mineral and vegetable oils, lubricants, compressed air, cooling water, engine lubricating oils, HD oils, and diesel fuels is excellent. Moreover, the high abrasion resistance, flame retardancy, and heat resistance are noteworthy, as well as the likewise applicable aging, weather, and ozone resistance. The high-pressure hydraulic hoses meet the requirements of the following standards:
- DIN EN 853
- DIN EN 854
- DIN 20021
- SAE100 R1AT (1SE)
- SAE100 R2AT (2SE)
The high-pressure diesel hose version with steel wire braid can withstand pressures up to 250 bar and the version with textile fabric up to 80 bar* (varies depending on hose dimension), with the temperature range being -40 °C to +100 °C (temporarily up to +125 °C).
Antistatic diesel hoses
Of course, you will also find electrically conductive antistatic hoses suitable for conveying diesel fuels in our range. One representative is the "suction and pressure oil and gasoline hose" in antistatic design with a discharge resistance <106 Ohm. The specialty hose with an inner core made of NBR, integrated steel wire spiral, and outer jacket made of CR is suitable for maximum operating pressures of 10 bar and can also be used in a vacuum up to a negative pressure of up to 800 mbar. Despite the multi-layer, robust hose construction, the suction hose is extremely flexible and ensures small bending radii. The diesel hose, for example, in 3/4 inch or 1-inch versions, can be subjected to temperatures from -20 °C to +85 °C (temporarily +110 °C), for example, in operating technology, petrochemicals, in refinery operations, at filling and transfer stations, and in process technology. We find the right size in millimeters or inches, use our filters for this or come to our team, which will gladly support you in selecting the appropriate hose technology.
The "oil and gasoline pressure hose" also belongs to the antistatic, electrically conductive mineral oil hoses, but differs in the hose construction. Thus, the inner core is also made of nitrile rubber, but the outer jacket is made of an NBR/SBR compound; a textile fabric serves as a pressure carrier. The discharge resistance of the fuel hose, which is approved for an operating pressure of up to 25 bar, is <106 Ohm. The operating temperature for this diesel-resistant fuel hose is -40 °C to +80 °C.
Thus, both Antista versions can be used in explosion-protected areas ("Ex protection"), such as at service stations or filling stations. The use for petroleum products with a maximum aromatic content of up to 50% is unrestricted. Both electrically conductive diesel hose versions are also abrasion-resistant, aging-resistant, weather-resistant, and ozone-resistant.
Low-pressure hoses according to DIN 73379
The diesel- and fuel-resistant chemical and hydraulic hoses according to DIN 73379 are equipped with a galvanized steel wire braid and optionally also with an integrated textile fabric. This guarantees a maximum operating pressure of up to 30 bar*. The temperature resistance is given as -30 °C to +90 °C. Whether with or without additional fabric – both hoses are abrasion-resistant and heat-resistant, also chemically resistant to diesel fuels, fluids based on mineral oil and glycol, lubricants, vegetable and animal oils, as well as silicones, diluted acids and alkalis, cooling water, and compressed air.
