EPDM O-Rings in Metric and Imperial Sizes for Sealing Technology
Reichelt Chemietechnik (RCT) permanently keeps EPDM O-rings in stock in both imperial and metric versions and in highly resistant grades. These food-safe sealing elements are used in process-engineering applications across the pharmaceutical industry, petrochemicals and the food industry – as pharmaceutical- and food-grade seals – as well as in chemical engineering. Made of ethylene propylene diene rubber, they are FDA- and BfR-compliant and meet the requirements of the European Pharmacopoeia, which makes them ideally suited to conveying water and qualifies them as pharmaceutical-grade seals.
Temperature Ranges and Applications of EPDM O-Rings and Seals
These seals made of EPDM are DVGW-approved and therefore KTW-compliant and durable. They likewise conform to the Austrian ÖVGW standard and the French ACS standard. As EPDM O-rings, these sealing rings are approved for temperature ranges from -40 °C to +180 °C with the media water and steam. These sealing rings can be sterilised at +121 °C – a temperature that is mandatory for the pharmaceutical industry, for work involving water and for the food industry.
For cleaning processes and the long-term durability of the plant systems, a binding cleaning temperature of +80 °C applies within the food industry. They are supplied in Shore hardness A 75° in accordance with DIN 53505, with the measurement taken on the test plaque. The chemical resistance of these EPDM sealing rings is extensive: the o-rings are permanently resistant to hot water, steam and hot media at +180 °C, and to short-term peaks of up to +210 °C. EPDM rubber o-rings are equally resistant to glycols and glycol-based brake fluids, as well as to nitric acid, hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide.
