Oxyfuel hoses for Welding Technology (DIN EN ISO 3821:2010)
Oxyfuel hoses, also known as "autogenous gas hoses" or "welding hoses," are used in autogenous welding processes for cutting and welding. These tubes safely transport flammable gases such as acetylene, liquefied gases, and oxygen.
As a specialist in plastics, fluid, and hose technology, Reichelt Chemietechnik offers a selected range of high-quality, readily available Oxyfuel lines, including twin configurations.
Marking of Oxyfuel hoses
To prevent potentially catastrophic mix-ups during use, autogenous gas hoses are color-coded, ensuring users can confidently select the correct gas hose for their application.
- Red: Tubes marked in red are for acetylene and other flammable gases, excluding liquefied gases, LPG, MPS, natural gas, and methane.
- Blue: Blue-marked tubes are used for oxygen transport. When paired with red tubes, they are referred to as twin hoses.
- Black: Black-marked tubes are for non-flammable gases.
- Orange: Orange-marked transport hoses are designed for liquefied gases such as propane and butane.
Oxyfuel hoses are further labeled to indicate compliance with the relevant DIN standard "EN ISO 3821:2010" (formerly EN 559:2003). Maximum allowable operating pressure is also often printed on the item. Red and blue hoses are frequently purchased together for welding purposes and are available as bundled twin hoses from Reichelt Chemietechnik.
Available Oxyfuel hoses and Materials
Depending on the welding application, location, and gas used, the following types are available:
Autogenous Welding Hoses
These welding hoses are part of the autogenous hose family, designed as robust gas transport systems for welding applications. The double-layer hose features a smooth inner lining made of an SBR (styrene-butadiene rubber) and EPDM (ethylene-propylene-diene rubber) compound, with an EPDM outer sheath. These products are color-coded based on the gas they transport: red for flammable gases and blue for oxygen. They operate in a temperature range of -30°C to +80°C and withstand a maximum working pressure of 20 bar at +20°C. These rubber hoses comply with DIN EN ISO 3821, replacing the older DIN EN 559 standard, making them ideal for welding.
Twin Oxyfuel hoses
Twin Oxyfuel hoses for welding processes combine a red hose for flammable gases and a blue hose for oxygen. These robust, dual-layer hoses feature an EPDM inner lining and outer sheath and are rated for a maximum operating pressure of 20 bar at +20°C. Twin hoses also comply with DIN EN ISO 3821:2010 and are suitable for temperatures between -30°C and +80°C.
Liquefied Gas Hoses for Propane and Butane
Also known as "propane hoses" and "butane hoses," these liquefied gas hoses differ from red Oxyfuel hoses and are intended for LPG transport. They meet DIN EN ISO 3821 (formerly EN 559). The specialized double-layer hose features an NBR (nitrile rubber) inner lining, an EPDM outer sheath, and a synthetic fabric reinforcement for pressure resistance up to 20 bar at +20°C. The working temperature range is -30°C to +80°C.
Oxyfuel hoses for Gases
Robust autogenous welding tubes for cutting or welding are available in three color-coded variants: red for flammable gases, blue for oxygen (both featuring EPDM outer sheaths), and black for non-flammable gases, with an SBR/EPDM sheath. Twin hoses refer to the red and blue pair. The inner lining material varies by gas: EPDM (red), SBR/EPDM (blue), and SBR/NR (black). These products are pressure-rated up to 20 bar at +20°C and can handle temperatures from -30°C to +80°C. All types comply with DIN EN ISO 3821 or DIN EN 559 standards and are suitable for welding.
Hoses for Propane and Butane (EN 16436-1 DVGW, DIN 4815)
Specifically designed for propane and butane transport, such as for propane gas burners, Reichelt Chemietechnik offers liquefied gas tubes compliant with EN 16436-1 DVGW (DIN 4815). The orange-marked specialty hose features an NBR inner lining and an SBR/NBR compound outer sheath. It is thermally rated for -30°C to +70°C. The exceptionally high burst pressure of 30 bar at +20°C is ensured by an embedded textile reinforcement. Additional highlights include excellent ozone resistance, weather resistance, and abrasion resistance.
