RCT®-Accessories: Closure Plug for Pipe Connectors made of PA or PVDF
Product specification
Closure plug for pipe / tube connectors of the type RCT®-TRS-1.
With the help of the closure plug, unused connections of pipe connectors can be sealed leak-free and reversibly. The plug can be used in any type RCT®-TRS-1 connector instead of a clamp ring of the same size.
Connectors for pipe outside Ø: 4 mm (e.g. item 193540 or 193700) are to be sealed with the closure plug 193831 (d: 6 mm), as in these versions a modified 6 mm PVDF body without integrated stiffener sleeve is used.
See "General Information" for technical specifications and installation instructions.
Application examples
If one side of the straight pipe connector 193501 (pipe outside Ø: 6 mm) is to be sealed, the closure plug 193831 (d: 6 mm) can be used instead of the clamp ring.
The sealing elements are also compatible with angled connectors and T-connectors. For example, the ports of the T-pipe connector 193546 (pipe outside Ø: 10 mm) can be closed off with the closure plug 193835 (d: 10 mm).

General Information RCT®-TRS-1
THOMAFLUID®-Straight Screw Connectors Type RCT®-TRS-1 made of PA or PVDF are used for connecting hard polymer pipes and hoses with a wall strength of 1.0 mm. The connectors are compatible with a wide range of polymer materials, e.g. PTFE, PVDF, FEP, PFA, PA, PE or PUR. The connection is realized with the help of an integrated stiffener sleeve, a compression ferrule and a union nut. The pipe connectors are used in a variety of application areas, e.g. the laboratory technology, chemical and biological technology, process engineering, pharmaceutical engineering and construction technology.
Installation
When tightening the union screw nut, the compression ferrule is deformed by the inside taper of the nut, necking the tube slightly without notching it. The V-shape of the compression ferrule causes a secondary necking point, resulting in a double fixture. The tube is held in place securely without being damaged.
The tube, cut squarely to length, is inserted into the union up to the stop. The union nut is screwed on by hand until a perceptible stop. Tighten down the union nut approximately 1 and 3/4 rotations using an open ended spanner. At the same time, push the tube against the fitting. Hold the fitting with a second wrench. Making a mark on both the fitting and the nut can assist in keeping track of the number of rotations.
Disassembly and reassembly: When unscrewing the nut, the compression ferrule remains on the pipe / hose. When reassembling the same tube union, screw the nut back on by hand until a perceptible stop and tighten down the union nut with an open ended spanner by 1 rotation for the final fit. By following this procedure, the joint becomes leak-proof again. If a fitting that has already been in use is supposed to be connected to a new tube / hose, then at least the compression ferrule must be replaced to ensure a leak-proof joint.
The fittings are compatible with concentric tubes and hoses with a clean, smooth surface and an outside diameter tolerance of ± 0.1 mm.
Technical Specifications
Fittings for Tube-Outer-Ø 4.0 mm consist of modified 6.0 mm fitting bodies without integrated stiffener sleeves, union nuts for 6.0 mm bodies and reduction compression ferrules. All other types contain integrated stiffener sleeves and regular compression ferrules.
Threads of the union nuts:
Tube-Outer-Ø 4.0; 6.0 mm: M10x1
Tube-Outer-Ø 8.0 mm: M12x1
Tube-Outer-Ø 10.0 mm: M14x1
Tube-Outer-Ø 12.0 mm: M16x1
