Clamp Seals in NBR and EPDM

As a specialist in various types of sealing technology, Reichelt Chemietechnik presents clamp seals in two different materials. In our product range, we offer seals made of EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Rubber) according to DIN 32676, as well as clamp seals made of NBR (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Rubber, Perbunan®) according to ISO 2852. Both variants are FDA and BfR compliant, thus meeting the requirements of the European Pharmacopoeia. Furthermore, they are approved by KTW and DVGW.

EPDM Clamp Seals

EPDM clamp seals are resistant to hot water and steam and can be continuously exposed to temperatures up to +180 °C, and briefly up to +210 °C. They are acid-resistant and alkali-resistant. Additionally, they exhibit good resistance to glycols, glycol-based brake fluids, and animal fats at low temperatures. The Shore hardness A is specified as 75° according to DIN 53505. The operating temperature or temperature range for these EPDM seals can be stated as -40 °C to +150 °C for air. For water, the operating temperature is in the range of -40 °C to +180 °C. They also demonstrate very good elastic behavior, are cold-resistant and heat-resistant, and are characterized by high abrasion resistance.

Seals Made of NBR

In addition to EPDM, clamp seals are available in our online shop in the NBR material. These versions are preferred in pharmaceutical technology but can also be used in the food industry due to their food suitability. They are particularly suitable for drinking water applications. NBR seals are resistant to fats, oils, waxes, motor oil, and fuels, as well as diluted acids and alkalis, steam, and oxidizing media such as hypochlorite, as well as aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons. Notable features also include high cold flexibility, heat resistance, and abrasion resistance.

The clamp seals made of NBR available in the RCT portfolio are colored black and have a Shore hardness A of 70° according to DIN 53505. They are designed for operating temperatures ranging from -20 °C to +100 °C and have a tensile strength of 18.5 N/mm2 according to DIN 53504 and an elongation at break of 240% according to DIN 53504.
