FPM or FKM?

Both abbreviations signify the same material, namely all fluorinated rubber products. FPM is the international abbreviation used in the DIN-ISO standard. FKM is the abbreviated form for fluoroelastomers as used in the American ASTM standard.

Reichelt Chemietechnik presents under the trade mark THOMAFLUID®-FPM a wide range of chemical tubes in widths from 0.8 to 25 mm in various groups with different Shore hardnesses between Shore A 55° +/-5° and Shore A 83° +/-5°. The several material compositions are kept permanently in stock as tubing, round cords, sealing plates and molded parts or produced to customer specifications.

FPM has a chemical resistance similar to that of PTFE, but it is not resistant to polar solvents and certain lyes. The permeability of THOMAFLUID®-FPM is very low and tubes made of this elastomer are best suited for conveyance of aggressive gases. Its heat resistance is significant. The material can be used without any problems at temperatures up to +200 °C, for a short time up to +250 °C. FPM withstands all atmospheric impacts such as ozone, sun, light and atmospheric oxygen.
