Polytetrafluoroethylene ( PTFE ) is an almost universally applicable construction material due to its extraordinary product characteristics including highest resistance to chemicals and other substances such as acids, bases, solvents, also halogenated, as well as oils and gasoline. PTFE has become an indispensable material that can hardly be replaced by any other plastic, especially in those branches of the pump, apparatus and machine construction where high corrosion resistance is of crucial importance. As PTFE is nontoxic and physiologically safe, it can also be used for applications in the areas of food technology, pharmaceutical and medical engineering. Finally, PTFE is incombustible, weathering-resistant and, in addition, completely hydrophobic, so that it features outstanding electrical insulation values and other favourable electrical parameters even at high air humidity. PTFE is therefore ideally suited for outdoor applications as well.
Virgin PTFE is amorphous. It is pure white without additives of any kind and suitable for permanent use in a wide temperature range between -200 °C and +260 °C. Although the heavy perfluorinated polyhydrocarbon, in technical terms, belongs to the thermoplastics, its density is significantly above 2.1 g/cm 3 , its intramolecular characteristics do not allow forming melting processes. PTFE is therefore processed into compact semi-finished products by pressing methods or sintering of PTFE powders. Pressing processes such as the continuous extrusion molding into solid rods or the compression molding of the virgin PTFE powder into cylindrical shapes are industrially preferred. The technical and chemical properties of both PTFE qualities are identical. They differ only in the available dimensions and their size accuracy.
The favorably shaped round material can be processed without any problems. All cutting processes are well-suited to serve this purpose. Moreover, PTFE is also adhesible by means of special primer adhesive formulations such as the proven THOMASANN ® PTFE adhesive of Reichelt Chemietechnik, a contact adhesive based on synthetic rubber. Within its delivery program „Semi-finished products“, Reichelt Chemietechnik has a wide range of narrowly tolerated round material made of virgin PTFE with the shore hardness D between 55° and 59° in stock, made of both extruded and compression-molded PTFE.
Solid rods made of extruded PTFE (virgin) are available with diameters between 6 mm and 120 mm in lengths of 250 mm, 500 mm and 1000 mm. Solid rods made of compression-molded PTFE (virgin) can be delivered with diameters between 130 mm and 210 mm in lengths of 150 mm and 300 mm.
The whole range of solid rods made of virgin PTFE is represented in detail in the handbook THOMAPLAST II (Semi-finished products) of Reichelt Chemietechnik on page 84.

RCT Reichelt Chemietechnik presents a new series of connectors in the product range THOMAFLUID®.
Up to now, the effort required to connect corrugated tubing to existing facilities was always somewhat greater without first carrying out a thermal smoothing or expansion. Due to the special design, the corrugated tubing can now be placed directly on the nozzle in the screw fitting. Then it is fixed on the nozzle by tightening the pressure screw and can be used immediately. Another advantage is the tool-free handling of the fitting since it must only be tightened hand-tight to withstand (depending on the tubing) a pressure of up to 16 bar.
The new fittings are made of chemical-resistant fluorinated plastic PVDF with external thread G 1/4", G 1/2" and G 3/4" for matching tubing sizes 1/4", 3/8", 1/2" and 3/4".
The whole range of tubing connectors you will find in our handbooks THOMAFLUID®-II and III .

                <![CDATA[
The thermoplastic polyoxymethylene with the technical abbreviation POM is also known as acetal resin or polyacetal. In chemical terms, the plastic derives from formaldehyde. According to its polymeric structure, which depends on the synthesis process, a distinction is made between homopolymeric polyoxymethylene with the abbreviation POM-H and copolymeric polyoxymethylene with the abbreviation POM-C. However, the physical, technical as well as chemical properties of both polymer types differ only marginally. There are clearer distinctions only in the melting behavior of both polymers: POM-H melts at 178 C, POM-C already at 166°C. For temperatures above 220°C both polymers start to degrade. In practice, there is usually no distinction made between POM-H and POM-C.
Compared to many other plastics, polyoxymethylene is generally distinguished by high toughness as well as great hardness, strength and dimensional stability combined with low friction values. The density is approx. 1.4 g/cm 3 . POM is resistant to oils, greases, fuels and alkalis, but its resistance to hydrolysis is not very good, so that the plastic is quickly decomposed by strong acids. Also its resistance to weather, the stability to permanent moisture and UV-radiation, is not particularly high. POM can therefore be used only to a limited extent in the chemical sector as well as for outdoor applications.
On the other hand, polyoxymethylene is an allround material for the technological area which can be precisely machined by all cutting processes. Due to its excellent mechanical properties polyoxymethylene can in many cases fully replace even metal materials. Thus, low-maintenance components made of POM such as bearing bushes, shafts, gears and gear racks, and even complete modules made of POM such as gear transmissions and gear boxes have become firmly established in the experimental and precision mechanical engineering especially due to the high running smoothness and only low wear. POM is also in demand as construction material for electrical installations, since it features favourable electrical properties such as high impedance and high electric strength.
RCT Reichelt Chemietechnik offers foils and plates made of POM-C and POM-H from its comprehensive range of semi-finished products.
Foils and plates made of POM-H are opaque. The natural colored material is suitable for permanent use in the temperature range between -50 C and +100°C, for a short time even up to +140°C. The standard quality is available in plate thicknesses between 0.5 mm and 5 mm with dimensions of 500 mm x 500 mm and 1,000 mm x 1,000 mm.
As special quality, RCT Reichelt Chemietechnik also delivers plates made of POM-H that meet the strict requirements of the FDA (US Food and Drug Administration) and the BfR (German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment). They can therefore also be used in the medical technology and in pharmaceutical areas. These plates are available in narrowly tolerated thicknesses between 8 mm and 50 mm and dimensions of 300 mm x 300 mm.
Plates made of POM-H are black colored. Their thermal endurance corresponds to that of POM-C. The extruded and tempered material is designated as FDA-compliant and meets the requirements of the respective regulations. POM-H plates are available in narrowly tolerated material thicknesses between 8 mm and 40 mm and dimensions of 250 mm x 305 mm as well as 305 mm x 500 mm.
The whole range of POM foils and plates is represented in detail in our handbook THOMAPLAST® II (Semi-finished products).

This necessarily applies also to blends made of natural rubber (NR) and styrene butadiene rubber (SBR), which combine the high elasticity of natural rubber as well as abrasion resistance and tensile strength of the styrene butadiene rubber, inclusive its good aging resistance, in one product.
RCT Reichelt Chemietechnik offers proven plates made of NR/SBR blends from its comprehensive range of semi-finished products, which can be used at temperatures from approx. -30 °C to +70 °C. Premium products are white NR/SBR plates , which meet the strict requirements of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA-CFR 177.2600) in conjunction with the BgW guidelines, XXI, Cat. 1. They are therefore explicitly approved for food applications and supplied by RCT Reichelt Chemietechnik as NR/SBR food plates in graded thicknesses between 1 mm and 6 mm and standard dimensions of 700 mm x 700 mm as well as 1,400 mm x 1,400 mm. The shore hardness A of the material is 45°, its density is 1.3 g/cm 3 .
RCT Reichelt Chemietechnik offers black colored NR/SBR plates with narrowly tolerated cotton inserts for laboratory and industrial applications. Due to their stratified structure such NR/SBR plates are mechanically highly stressable.
NR/SBR plates with one cotton insert each are available in thicknesses from 1.5 mm to 6 mm. The material with the density of approx. 1.5 g/cm 3 has a shore hardness A of 70° ±10. Also available are NR/SBR plates with two inserts in thicknesses between 3 mm and 6 mm with the same shore hardness A. The standard dimensions for both cotton-reinforced qualities are 600 mm x 600 mm and 1,200 mm x 1,200 mm.

PCTFE , the technical abbreviation for polychlorotrifluoroethylene, is a hard, in a wide range exceptionally temperature-resistant plastic. It belongs to the thermoplastics. PCTFE can be permanently used between -255 C (temperature of liquefied hydrogen) and +150 C, for short periods even up to +200 C. The uncolored, opaque material, the hardness of which is not reached by any other fluoroplastic, is amorphous.
PCTFE features extremely low gas permeability and is flame-resistant even in pure oxygen. Moreover, PCTFE is very dimensionally stable compared with the chemically related PTFE and tends hardly noteworthy to flow even under strong pressure load. Similar to PTFE, it can however be machined by cutting processes such as turning, milling and planing without any problems. PCTFE is also adhesible by means of special adhesives.
PCTFE is highly resistant to environmental influences as well as UV radiation and X-radiation and thus superior to many other plastics. Also the chemical stability of PCTFE surpasses that of most other plastics. PCTFE is not affected by either acids, not even by fuming nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid, or alkalies such as concentrated sodium hydroxide or caustic potash. PCTFE is resistant even to solvents, halogenated as well. Only free alkali metals are able to destroy the plastic.
RCT Reichelt Chemietechnik has a select range of high-quality PCTFE Plates in stock. These high-quality semi-finished products have a shore hardness A between 75° and 80° and a density of approx. 2.2 g/cm 3 . Due to their remarkable mechanical and technical as well as chemical properties PCTFE plates of RCT Reichelt Chemietechnik are preferably used as construction materials for the nuclear technology and cryogenic engineering and in the medical engineering, moreover in the chemical pilot plant and apparatus engineering, for superstructures in outdoor areas, and also in the field of electronics and electrical equipment particularly due to their outstanding high resistivity.
PCTFE plates of RCT Reichelt Chemietechnik are available in graded, practice-oriented material thicknesses between 1 mm and 10 mm in four standard dimensions of 150 mm x 150 mm, 200 mm x 100 mm, 200 mm x 200 mm as well as 350 mm x 150 mm each.

Powdered metals can solidify into fine particles by sintering at temperatures below their melting point. The powder metallurgy makes extensive use thereof particularly for mass production of mechanical components for the mechanical and automotive engineering. Whereas in the case of such manufactured moulded components like clutch linings, plain bearings or bushes only low to no porosity is desirable, highly porous sintered metals provide excellent filter materials. The pore nominal diameters of such filters can be easily adjusted within defined limits by adding fine-particulate solids to the sinter, which volatilize during the sintering process without leaving any residues, thereby leaving fractal channel structures according to their particle size. Filters made of sintered metals are mechanically very stable and pressure-resistant. They are additionally distinguished by an exceptionally high thermal endurance and are resistant to all solvents and many chemicals. With these technical properties, which in this entirety are not reached by any other filter material, sintered metal filters clearly differ from all common filter materials in terms of their quality.

Sintered metal filters are particularly suitable for gas purification in a wide temperature range up to several hundred degrees and for high-pressure filtration of viscous media, as well as for clear and fine filtration of solutions. Semi-finished products made of sintered metal are then the alternative for the in-house production of filters for construction of filter systems especially in chemical and biotechnological experimental, pilot and process plants when available standard products are not suitable and the industrial production of sintered metal filter elements is not possible because of too low quantities. For this purpose, RCT Reichelt Chemietechnik offers a wide range of highly porous sintered plates based on low-carbon stainless steel 1.4404, whose total porosity is between 30 % and 45 % depending on the selected quality. The high-quality sintered plates for the filter technology with densities between 4.3 g/cm 3 and 5.6 g/cm 3 are considerably lighter than the compact stainless steel they are based on.

The sintered chromium-nickel stainless steel is suitable for mechanical processing and can be welded. In addition, it is particularly resistant to intercrystalline corrosion thus ensuring long service life of the sintered metal filters even under extreme operating conditions. Sintered plates based on chromium-nickel steel for the filter technology of Reichelt Chemietechnik have graded pore nominal diameters between 3 μm and 80 μm and are available in material thicknesses between 3 mm and 10 mm and dimensions of 125 mm x 125 mm as well as 250 mm x 250 mm. The whole range of stainless steel sintered plates based on chromium-nickel steel is represented in detail in our handbook THOMAPOR (Filtration) on pages 29 and 30.

Filtrations are basic operations for the separation of solids from liquids or gases by deposition at surfaces of filter materials in the laboratory as well as in many industrial sectors. The materials serve either the extraction of solids from the liquids or gases carrying them or they are used for the purification. This includes the clear filtration of liquids and the removal of dusts and other solid particles from gases.
The effectiveness of any filtration is directly dependent on the available surface for the separation of solids. Another important factor is also the retention time of the polluted medium on the filter material. This applies in particular to the particle filtration of flowing media which is required for the purification of liquids and gases during running processes.
RCT Reichelt Chemietechnik offers economical complete solutions with highly efficient yarn wound filters for the continuous particle filtration of fluids and gases. Such filters consist of special yarns which are wound around an inert supporting core and realize both a large available surface and the long retention time of the medium to be purified on the filter due to their unique winding pattern. A noticeable special feature of yarn wound filters are the almost consistently high flow rates even with highly polluted media until the filter saturation is reached.
Yarn wound filters for the continuous particle filtration of fluids and gases are inserted into pressure-proof screw-mountable filter housings developed for this purpose, which allow the quick change of the filter element without any problems in the case of its exhaustion. These completed yarn wound filter systems can be permanently integrated in 3/8" or 3/4" pipes by means of NPT pipe connections.
RCT Reichelt Chemietechnik provides particularly suitable high-quality yarn wound filter elements with graded nominal widths for the particle retention between 0.5 μm and 100 μm for chemical-technical and bioengineering application areas, as well as for the beverage industry. They are optionally equipped with cotton, viscose or polypropylene yarns and polypropylene or stainless steel support elements and, depending on the filter size, are available for flow rates between 25 l/h and 2,000 l/h. In addition, filter housings made of blue coloured polypropylene (PP) or housings made of transparent styrene acrylonitrile (SAN) are available with seals made of proven nitrile rubber (NBR) and for operating pressures up to 10 bar. Besides these two standard versions RCT Reichelt Chemietechnik also offers filter housings made of stable, black coloured polyamide (PA 6) for operating pressures up to 19 bar.

Detailed information about the whole delivery program for yarn wound filter elements as well as the matching filter housings you will find in our handbook THOMAPOR ® (Filtration).

FPM is a highly fluorinated synthetic rubber, also known by its recent abbreviation FKM according to DIN / ISO and ASTM standards. It is cross-linked with bisphenol and therefore absolutely sulfur-free.
The specific features of this high-performance copolymer of vinylidene difluoride (VDF) and hexafluoropropylene (HFP) are above all its excellent chemical resistance beside high temperature resistance that allows long-term use at temperatures between -20° C and 200° C, in case of some qualities for short periods even up to +300° C. FPM is resistant to hydrolysis and thus also stable against hot water and steam, acids and alkalis. The fluorinated rubber is also unaffected by mineral oils, fuels, as well as aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons. Only halogenated solvents may cause more or less strong swelling of the fluoroelastomer.
The low gas permeability of FPM and its good resistance to ozone and oxygen are remarkable, so that the synthetic rubber is also highly weather-resistant. Finally, the high non-flammability of this high-tech material, which is classified in fire class V0 according to the fire standards UL 94, should be emphasised.
RCT Reichelt Chemietechnik has FPM foils and plates with shore hardnesses A between 70° and 75° in stock for demanding application areas in chemical-technical pilot plant and apparatus construction. The black colored, heavy fluorinated rubber with its density about 1.9 g/cm 3 is electrically practically nonconductive and is the material of choice particularly for high-performance pressure seals, vapor and gas barriers, as well as for chemically and thermally stressed insulations.
Also available are FPM composite plates for special tasks , on one side with PTFE coated fluorinated rubber plates. The individual chemical-technical properties of both fluoroplastics interact synergistically.
The whole range of FPM/FKM foils and plates is represented in detail in our handbook THOMAPLAST ® II (Semi-finished products). This and all further handbooks you can order free of charge at any time.

Test facilities, experimental areas and equipment systems in laboratories and pilot plants require for their operation, beside the current supply, in most cases also the supply and removal of liquid or gaseous media such as coolants, brine solutions or inert gases. Once these media are pressurized and/or greater flow rates are required, tubes even with appropriate tube connectors and safety devices no longer guarantee the sufficient system security.
For this purpose rather stable pipe connections are required which are usually realized by means of pipe couplings. Such installations are, however, rigid and prove unfavourable during disassembly and reassembly of screwed tubing installations. Because in such cases, for example when system components need to be replaced or in case of damage, the required space is often insufficient. Moreover, the appropriate tool must also be available for this replacement.
RCT Reichelt Chemietechnik offers modern plug-in connectors for metrically dimensioned pipes up to 12.4 mm and inch-dimensioned pipes up to 1/2" external threads as alternative to conventional pipe-to-pipe screw connections. These couplings are used to connect and disconnect pipes quickly and easily without the use of tools. The one-piece quick connection system for pipes is based on an easy-to-use socket mechanism with involved, immediately acting sealing core.
Plug-in connectors for pipes of RCT Reichelt Chemietechnik are completely made of corrosion-proof AlSi stainless steel and fitted with chemically highly stable fluorinated rubber ring seals (FKM). They are designed for pressures up to 20 bar and operating temperatures between -20 °C and +120 °C. The connectors are available as loose straight connectors, elbow connectors or T-connectors as well as for permanent installations on equipment and control panels with one-sided external threads. Furthermore, adapters with R or NPT external threads are available, with the help of which apparatuses can be retrofitted for connecting metric or inch pipes via quick-release couplings.

Polyvinyl chloride with the technical abbreviation PVC belongs to the most important plastics commercially produced worldwide. Virgin polyvinyl chloride, so-called rigid PVC, is a traditional, stiff thermoplastic material for the manufacturing of moulded components. Due to integrated additives, rigid PVC loses its stiffness and becomes soft and elastic. Such modified PVC is referred to as plasticized PVC (PVC-P), which is processed almost exclusively into foils and plates.
RCT Reichelt Chemietechnik offers a wide range of foils and plates made of clear uncolored PVC-P for laboratory and research sector, which are characterized by both good weather resistance and good mechanical strength in the temperature range between -30 C and +50 C. Additionally, they have dense, antiadhesive surfaces. Therefore these foils and plates made of plasticized PVC are especially suited for use in outdoor areas, for example for coverings and permanent moisture barriers, particularly since they can be welded together or bonded by means of special adhesives without any problems. Furthermore, foils and plates made of plasticized PVC of Reichelt Chemietechnik feature a high non-flammability. Due to their remarkable electric strength, these foils and plates can also be used for the protection and insulation of electric installations in general electrical device construction and in physical-technical pilot plants.
Foils and plates made of plasticized PVC are sufficiently resistant to acids and alkalies. Fuels and oils, however, increasingly lead to embrittlement due to the gradual leaching of the additives. On the other side, many solvents, in particular halogenated and aromatics, may cause the material to swell and thus to lose its strength. Cyclic ethers such as tetrahydrofuran are able even to dissolve polyvinyl chloride completely.
RCT Reichelt Chemietechnik delivers foils and plates made of plasticized PVC with the shore hardness A 70 in thicknesses of 1 mm to 6 mm and fixed dimensions of 700 mm x 700 mm as well as 1,400 mm x 1,400 mm as proven standard quality.
Moreover, foils and plates made of plasticized PVC with the shore hardness A 80 are available in material thicknesses from 0.5 mm to 6 mm and dimensions of 600 mm x 500 mm as well as 1,500 mm x 1,200 mm. These high-quality semi-finished products contrast with those of the aforementioned standard quality especially by higher tearing strength and improved UV-resistance.

Adhesive tapes are modern tools for the manufacturing of composite materials. The ribbon-like carrier materials, one- or double-sided coated with pressure-sensitive adhesives, can in many cases fully replace screw, rivet, soldered or welded connections. The carrier materials include not only textile fabrics but equally also foils and foam materials made of all common plastics, speciality papers and not least metal foils. Reichelt Chemietechnik stocks a wide range of proven standard and high-performance qualities for construction purposes and repairs in laboratories and engineering.
Composite materials with adhesive tapes are easy-to-use and may therefore be realized cost-effectively. They are basically conceivable for all material combinations.
Composites by means of adhesive tapes are resistant to the effects of moisture and, depending on carrier material, also largely resistant to chemicals. Compared with other joining technologies, glued connections furthermore provide the advantage that mechanical stresses due to the residual elasticity of the adhesion sites can be virtually ruled out. This is true particularly for composites with foam adhesive tapes which absorb tension forces very effectively and can offset with that.
The whole range of adhesive tapes is represented in detail in our handbook THOMAPLAST® II (Semi-finished products).
As distributor of laboratory equipment, RCT Reichelt Chemietechnik offers a wide range of laboratory articles including tubes and connectors, valves and flowmeters, filtration accessories, sealings and fastening elements, adhesives and lubricants, semi-finished products, pumps and drive elements. All articles are available in various forms and materials.

PFA is a perfluorinated, semicrystalline, thermoplastic polymer. It combines the outstanding chemical properties of polytetrafluoroethylene ( PTFE ) with the mechanical and technical properties of polyfluoroethylenepropylene ( FEP ). PFA is resistant to nearly all chemicals. Furthermore, the plastics is extremely weatherproof and radiation-resistant. PFA can be used in a wide temperature range and allows operating temperatures from -200 to +260 °C. Vessels made of this material are unbreakable, autoclavable and easy to clean due to the hydrophobic and anti-adhesive properties of their smooth surface. All the above-mentioned properties make PFA ideally suited especially for use in trace analysis and for contamination-free operations with pure and aggressive media.
RCT Reichelt Chemietechnik offers laboratory bottles , sample vials , as well as dishes and beakers made of PFA.
A special feature is the beaker made of perfluoroalkoxy suitable for heating plates . This beaker has a bottom made of graphite which transfers the heat well to the beaker material PFA. The beaker content (liquid) only comes into contact with the PFA.
The vessels made of PFA you will find both online and in printed form in our handbook THOMAPLAST® I . This and all further handbooks you can order free of charge at any time.

Ethylene propylene diene rubber, known by its abbreviation EPDM, is a sulfur-vulcanized, permanently elastic synthetic rubber. The elastomer features resistance to weather and ozone, as well as high resistance to water and steam, acids, alkaline solutions, glycols and brake fluids. Notable is also its thermal continuous-load capability in the temperature range between -40 C and +130 C, for a short time even up to +150°C. Moreover, EPDM has outstanding electrical insulating properties and is absolutely nontoxic and unplasticized.
Reichelt Chemietechnik offers black colored EPDM plates with material thicknesses between 1 and 6 mm. As versatile semi-finished products, they are particularly suited for the creation of areal covers and sealings in the production of laboratory equipment and in chemical plant construction, as well as in building and construction industry for sustainable sealings of building profiles against moisture and as frost-resistant pool linings. EPDM plates, which are available in fixed dimensions, can be connected to each other without any problems by means of contact adhesives or seam splice tapes.

Reichelt Chemietechnik offers you tubes made of thermoplastic elastomers in addition to tubes made of elastomers and duroplasts.
Duroplasts, also referred to as duromers, are plastics, which can no longer be deformed after curing. Duroplasts are hard, mostly glass-like, three-dimensionally cross-linked polymer materials. The available duroplasts of Reichelt Chemietechnik include, among others, PA , PE and PP , moreover fluoroplastics like PTFE or high performance plastics like PEEK .
Elastomers are dimensionally stable, yet elastically deformable plastics (based on natural or synthetic rubber) with a glass transition temperature (this is the temperature at which the elastomer begins to soften) that lies below the operation temperature. Elastomers can be elastically deformed through tensile and compressive stress but return to their original, undeformed state once stresses are released. Elastomer tubes of Reichelt Chemietechnik are available in 14 different elastomers including materials such as NR , CR , PUR , NR and silicone.
Thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) are so-called elastomer alloys, meaning physical mixtures (blends) of usually two different plastics. They are compounded in such a way that they behave like classic elastomers at room temperature. However, under the influence of heat they can be thermoplastically deformed and their achieved shape is fixed after cooling. This process is reversible, i.e. it can be repeated any number of times after the cooling process by reheating, unless the thermic decomposition (melting) of the material sets in due to excessive heating.
Another unique feature of the thermoplastic elastomers is their weldability not given by any other elastomer.
In order to type the different TPE qualities, an identification letter is attached to the abbreviated designation. Blends of thermoplastic polyester elastomers with thermoplastic copolyesters have the marking TPEE (also TPE-E) or the abbreviation TPC.
Reichelt Chemietechnik offers chemical tubes , composite tubes and tubes for the pharmaceutical and food processing industry made of this material in addition to the elastomer tubes. The tubes made of thermoplastic elastomers are easier to process, but feature a lower heat tolerance. All TPEE tubes are physiologically safe, feature very good mechanical strength properties, have excellent flexibility at room and low temperatures, and are resistant to most oils, fats and gasolines, aliphatic compounds and ozone.

Reichelt Chemietechnik now offers moulded components made of glass-fiber reinforced plastics.
Glass-fiber reinforced plastics (GRP) are based on polyester resins or epoxy resins. Glass fibers are added to the original materials. Due to this admixture, the service temperature, the elasticity and the strength of the composite material increase. At the same time the end product is distinguished by its low weight, it is insulating, weatherproof and corrosion-resistant also to aggressive substances. Glass-fiber reinforced plastics are also known as fiberglass and count among the most commonly used long-fiber reinforced plastics.
Reichelt Chemietechnik offers moulded components such as profiles , tubes , rods and nuts made of this material. These semifinished products or fastening elements can be further processed similar to wood. The machining options include techniques like drilling, milling, sawing, turning and blanking.

Reichelt Chemietechnik presents a great number of tubes and connectors made of standard plastics in either metric or imperial dimensions as a special feature. Often it is impossible to combine imperial dimensions with metric sizes. The following tubes, among others, are available in imperial dimensions: Temperature resistant FEP pressure tubes , ETFE feed tubing , standard chemical tubes made of PP , FDA compliant LDPE plastic tubes , capillary tubes made of PTFE as well as PFA pressure tubes with high temperature resistance (-260 to +260 °C).
Reichelt Chemietechnik can supply PFA connectors in different versions suitable for these inch-dimensioned tubes. PFA is a plastic that is resistant to almost all chemicals and can be used in a wide temperature range. This makes it a favored basic material for tubes and fittings. These PFA connectors are available e.g. as straight connectors , elbow fittings or with internal or external thread .
Our complete assortment of tubes and connectors you will find in the handbooks THOMAFLUID® I-IV.

THOMASANN ® PTFE Adhesive is a two-component adhesive based on synthetic rubber (contact adhesive). It is suitable for quick, uncomplicated and reliable bonding of parts made of PTFE to other materials.
The adhesive provides immediate bonding and thus enables application even on ceilings and vertical surfaces. However, a correction of the adhesion is not possible anymore. The adhesive is highly inflammable and should therefore be kept away from open fire. It is resistant to water, gasoline, diluted acids and alkalis. The temperature limits of the adhesion range from -30 °C to +85 °C. An immediate subsequent treatment of the glued parts is possible, but the final strength is achieved only after 48 hours.
A pretreatment of the surfaces by mechanical roughening or by chemical etching of the bonding surfaces is necessary for achieving a good adhesion of PTFE. It is important that the surfaces to be bonded are metallic bright and free of residues like oils, fats, rust, tinder or coats of paint before application of the adhesive.
Before bonding, the surfaces to be bonded should be deep cleaned with a suitable solvent to remove dirt, oil and fat. Suitable grease solvents are acetone, trichloroethylene, perchloroethylene, methyl chloride etc., but not gasoline, alcohol or paint thinners, which leave residues after evaporation.
The best bonding results are obtained by applying of the adhesive on both parts and with the adhesive layer thickness of 0.1 - 0.15 mm. The parts to be bonded need to be held under pressure while the adhesive cures. The pressure can be generated e.g. by loading with weights or by special clamping tools etc. The clamping pressure should not be altered during the curing of the adhesive, otherwise the bonding strength is insufficient.

The new food tubing made of PVC is suitable for food, milk and dairy products, and does not contain phthalates. The tubing is absolutely compatible with dry and moist products, acidic or alcoholic substances up to +50 °C, as well as with milk. It is highly resistant to strong alkaline detergents and is equally unaffected by commonly used sanitizers, but it is not suited for fatty products! The inner surface is absolutely smooth and non-porous, it promotes a hygienic flow and prevents the formation of deposits, thus making the bacterial growth difficult. The non-toxic, odourless and tasteless tubing complies with REACH and RoHS Directives (2002/95/EC) as well as European Directives (2002/72/EC) for food and plastic materials, and meets the requirements of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The temperature ranges from -35 to +74 °C. The recommended sterilisation method is therefore ethylene oxide, because for example a steam sterilization within the indicated temperature range is not possible. The tubing is available with an inside diameter up to 25.4 mm and can alternatively be used as a flexible replacement for rigid piping systems. Its absolute transparency allows the visual examination and optimal flow control of liquids, even with light media. The PVC food tubing is easily pliable and thus well suited for a quick installation due to a shore hardness of A 64°. Polyamides have a good chemical resistance to organic solvents but they can easily be affected by acids and oxidizing chemicals. This tubing can therefore be well used in low-pressure hydraulics and central lubrication systems. The tubing allows enormous pressure load and has an outstanding resistance to hot air and weather. With an inside diameter of 1.5 mm it withstands a maximum working pressure of 136 bar. At a shore hardness D 96° there can be no question of flexibility. The THOMASANN®-High-Chem-PTFE-Sealing Paste, CHETRA® TP, is a nontoxic, odorless paste for sealing of pipe threads as well as pneumatic and hydraulic fittings. Due to the moldable PTFE particles, which prevent a decay formation, CHETRA® TP provides a flexible, non-hardening sealing and thus eliminates leaks on threads even if high pressure resistance is required. Threaded connections can easily be closed and opened, the threads are prevented from being damaged. CHETRA® TP is suitable for many alkalis and acids, any kinds of solvents, gases including hydrogen, ammonia, chlorine, propane, butane and nitrogen, as well as for air, steam, cooling agents, seawater and fuels. The sealing paste is not suited for oxygen applications as well as saltpeter and lactic acid. The PTFE Sealing Paste does not drop and run during the processing and is suitable for use in the temperature range of -240 to +260 °C.
