Pipe Connectors for Hard Plastic Hoses

Plastic pipe connectors are used for adapting plastic hoses and pipes in laboratory technology, chemical engineering, process engineering, and procedural engineering, where their application depends on the medium being conveyed. Pipe connectors for hard plastic hoses are made from PTFE, PVDF, PFA, and PP.

Chemical Resistance of Our Pipe Connectors

An overview of the chemical resistances of plastic pipe connectors:

  • PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene/THOMAFLON)
Pipe connectors made of the fluoroplastic PTFE are absolutely resistant to lubricants, gasoline, and other aliphatic hydrocarbons, benzene, xylene, and other aromatic hydrocarbons, phenols, halogenated solvents, free halogens, esters, and ketones, as well as to alkali solutions, ammonia, and amines, mineral acids, organic acids, hydrogen peroxide, ozone, and other oxidizers, hot water and steam, as well as UV radiation. A connector for a PTFE pipe is not resistant to high-energy radioactive radiation, free alkali metals, and fluorine.
  • PVDF (Polyvinylidene fluoride/Kynar®/Solef®)
Pipe connectors from Kynar®/Solef® are resistant to gasoline and other aliphatic hydrocarbons, halogenated solvents, ammonia solutions, and aliphatic amines as well as aniline, mineral acids, organic acids, hydrogen peroxide, hot water, and UV radiation. Pipe or hose connectors made of PVDF are moderately resistant to benzene, xylene, and other aromatic hydrocarbons as well as phenols.
  • PFA (Perfluoroalkoxy/Chemfluor)
Pipe connectors made of the plastic PFA are nearly resistant to all inorganic and organic media, especially gasoline and other aliphatic hydrocarbons, benzene, xylene, and other aromatic hydrocarbons, phenols, halogenated solvents, esters, and ketones, sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, ammonia solutions and aliphatic amines, aniline, pyridine, and other aromatic amines, mineral acids, organic acids, hydrogen peroxide, hot water, and UV radiation. A connector or sleeve for a pipe or hard hose made of PFA is not resistant to free alkali metals.
  • PP (Polypropylene/Hostalon® PP)
The technical plastic polypropylene proves its resistance to lubricants and gasoline, aliphatic hydrocarbons, alcohols, and ketones as well as organic acids, mineral acids, hydrogen peroxide, alkali solutions, ammonia, and amines also in pipe and hose technology.

Thermal Resistance:

Plastics, from which the pipe connectors with or without external threads for various pipe variants are made, have the following properties:

  • PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene)
    Temperature range: -200 °C to +260 °C, temporarily up to +280 °C
  • PFA (Perfluoroalkoxy)
    Temperature range: -200 °C to +260 °C, temporarily up to +280 °C
  • PVDF (Polyvinylidene fluoride)
    Temperature range: -30 °C to +150 °C, temporarily up to +160 °C
  • PP (Polypropylene)
    Temperature range: -5 °C to +90 °C, temporarily up to +100 °C

Pipe Connector Assortment

The assortment/program includes straight connectors, elbow connectors, cross connectors, elbow connectors as screw fittings, which can be pressure-sealed connected with plastic hoses and plastic pipes. An ideal alternative to a clamp connector, a conventional brass sleeve, or a glue sleeve for pipes.

Pipe Connectors Made of PTFE

Straight pipe connectors with different thread variants:

  • from PTFE - Bulkhead
  • with external thread for various tube variants
  • with external thread from PTFE - Bulkhead
  • with internal thread

You will also find:

  • Cross tube connectors

Material Properties

PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene/THOMAFLON)

Is a flowable material characterized by high chemical and thermal resistance; notable is its extraordinary coefficient of sliding friction, its non-stick surface, and its low friction values; the fluoroplastic ensures high resistance to tracking and minimal gas permeability; thus, the material is significantly more versatile than PVC. PTFE is used in the production of pipe and hose fittings, taps and seals, the production of valves, pumps, and filter bodies.

Pipe Connectors Made of PFA

with internal threadMaterial PropertiesPFA (Perfluoroalkoxy/Chemfluor®):is a fluoroplastic from which pipe connectors are produced:A connector made of PFA is characterized by its excellent thermal resistance and chemical resistance; the material is flame retardant, is extremely weather-resistant, and ensures a low friction coefficient; PFA is used for welding wires as well as in chemical equipment construction, pipe and hose technology, pharmaceutical technology, and chemical engineering.

Pipe Connectors Made of PVDF

  • Straight tube couplings from PVDF - Bulkhead
  • Straight tube couplings  with external thread
  • Straight tube couplings with external thread from PVDF - Bulkhead
  • Straight tube couplings with internal thread

  • T-pipe connectors

Material Properties

PVDF (Polyvinylidene fluoride/Solef®/Kynar®)

is a fluoroplastic that is preferably used in chemical equipment construction, process engineering, and mechanical engineering; PVDF is an extremely hard plastic with the best coefficient of sliding friction and outstanding weather resistance; it is non-stick and ensures minimal friction values; it is considered gas-tight, simultaneously equipped with extremely high resistance to tracking.

  • Cross tube couplings from PP

Material Properties

PP (Polypropylene/Hostaflon® PP)
PP is known as a technical plastic used in chemical engineering, process engineering, and process technology, but also in mechanical engineering; in contrast to PVC, it is a highly resilient plastic used for sliding elements, such as rollers or pump elements. It is characterized by good dielectric properties, is abrasion-resistant, and shows the best chemical resistance. Notably, it is also used for pipes in the drinking water area; here, it meets the KTW requirements as well as the regulations according to BfR and FDA for drinkable water.

Temperature Ranges for Plastic Pipe Connectors
