By tightening the union nut, which tapers internally, the cutting ring is compressed, resulting in the wedge-shaped inner side of the ring cutting into the pipe wall and creating an absolutely fluid-tight connection. This is referred to as a conical sealing connection. Pipe connectors are cutting ring fittings that are well-sealing and considered basic components in analytical technology and chemical process technology. Stainless steel according to DIN EN ISO 8434-1 (DIN 2353) represents the material selection for stainless steel pipe connectors.
Functionality of the Connectors/Fittings
The functionality is such that a cutting ring on the pipe connector cuts/notches into the tube during screwing, thus creating a solid, fluid-tight connection. By cutting the cutting ring, often executed flat, into the pipe, the high-pressure specifications up to 500 bar at +20 °C are also secured.
