Solenoid valves made from plastic and stainless steel - building blocks of laboratory technology and chemical process technology

2/2- or 3/2-way solenoid valves made from plastic and stainless steel for laboratory technology and chemical engineering are characterised by high media resistance and high load capacity at the same time. These valves for laboratory and chemical engineering are produced from the materials PP (polypropylene), PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride, Kynar®, Solef®) and PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene, THOMAFLON). But these valves are also made from stainless steel and brass, so the range is very wide, with special attention being paid to the high-temperature valves, which can be exposed to media temperatures up to +180°C.

This product group consists of special valves which meet extremely high requirements as solenoid valves and meet these requirements in biochemical analysis, in laboratory technology, but also as valves in pharmaceutical technology and process technology.

Solenoid valves made from PTFE/THOMAFLON

  • are offered as 2/2-, 3/2- and 6/2-way solenoid valves
  • are resistant to most inorganic and organic media
  • allow media in the range from -50°C to +100°C and guarantee a pressure load of max. 2 bar at +20°C
  • have a circuit time of 20 to 50 milliseconds, depending on the type

The wide range of solenoid valves makes the following connection threads possible: UNF, NPT, G 1/8", G 1/2" and G 3/8". The sealing material of the membranes in the valve is chosen depending on the requirement profile.

Solenoid valves made from PVDF/Kynar®/Solef®

2/2-way solenoid valves made from PVDF are part of RCT®'s basic range. The 3/2-way versions made from PVDF are approved for temperatures from -50°C to +100°C. Their operating pressure is between 1 bar and 2 bar at +20°C, depending on the valve type, with the switching time between 20 and 40 ms. The vacuum suitability is between a pressure of 0.5 and 1 bar.

The service life of a valve of this type allows 5 million circuits to be controlled with it.

Solenoid valves made from PVC-U/rigid PVC

2/2-way solenoid valves made from PVC-U (rigid PVC) are also part of Reichelt Chemietechnik's standard range. A valve of this type is equipped with EPDM seals or FKM/FPM/Viton® seals.

Solenoid valves made from metal/stainless steel

Solenoid valves made from stainless steel for high temperatures are used to convey fuels and alcohols, as well as hydraulic fluids, oils and gases. A stainless-steel valve in the high-temperature range is ideally suited for water vapour. These valves withstand more than 2000 circuits per minute, which are closed without current (NC) and comply with protection class IP 65.

High-performance solenoid valves

RCT® also offers high-performance solenoid valves made from stainless steel for chemical process technology as a 3/2-way valve for high temperatures. In this context, a maximum value of +180°C applies to the temperature of the medium such as water. So, for high temperatures, control voltages of 24 V direct current and 230 V alternating current are available, with flow rates of 110 l/h, 200 l/h and also 400 l/h being possible, depending on the solenoid valve type, at a pressure of 2 to 6 bar.

It is also important that the duty cycle is 100% and that the protection class of the solenoid valves made from stainless steel for high temperatures with IP 65 with device socket is specified.
